University Dealt Blow In Text Messaging Case

Law360 (April 27, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A federal court has found that Motorola Inc.’s handsets do not infringe the University of Texas System’s text-messaging patent in a key ruling that could lead the university’s far-reaching suit against more than 30 other handset manufacturers to be dismissed.

Motorola said Friday that Judge Sam Sparks of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas granted Motorola summary judgment of noninfringement earlier this month.
