Chinese Duo Tried To Smuggle Military Chips, Feds Say

Law360, New York (April 4, 2011, 4:46 PM EDT) -- A federal jury in Virginia on Monday indicted two Chinese nationals for allegedly attempting to obtain radiation-hardened microchips used in the military and aerospace industries in violation of the Arms Export Control Act.

The pair, Hong Wei Xian and Li Li, were charged in a two-count indictment accusing them of conspiring to violate the act to smuggle goods from the U.S. and the attempted export of United States Munitions List items, the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of Virginia said.
