HHS Wants To Loosen Medicare Supplier Rules

Law360, New York (April 4, 2011, 7:17 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services said Monday it was seeking to pare back a measure finalized last year that increased oversight and regulation of certain Medicare contractors, suggesting it might have been overbroad.

The HHS unveiled a proposed rule to loosen standards implemented in August 2010 that put new restrictions on the solicitation of Medicare beneficiaries by medical equipment suppliers and established new licensing, contracting and zoning requirements for such companies.
