BofA Threatens ABN Amro With $220B Suit

Law360 (April 30, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Bank of America Corp. has reportedly threatened ABN Amro with a $220 billion lawsuit if it reneges on a deal to sell its LaSalle unit, further complicating the Dutch bank’s breakup.

At a court hearing in Amsterdam on Saturday, Bank of America said it would seek the enormous punitive damages in the United States if the deal fell through for any non-regulatory reasons, the Irish Times reported.
