Judge Moves Spanair Crash Litigation Out Of US

Law360 (April 5, 2011, 5:29 PM EDT) -- A California federal judge in late March dismissed multidistrict litigation brought by survivors and family members of victims of a Spanair SA flight that crashed shortly after takeoff in August 2008, saying Spain was the more appropriate venue.

Judge Gary Allen Feess of the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California ruled on March 22 that Spain was an available and adequate alternative forum, that private interest factors favored dismissal, and that public interest factors strongly favored dismissal.
