Judge Slashes Legal Fees In Katrina Cleanup Dispute

Law360, New York (April 7, 2011, 4:39 PM EDT) -- A Mississippi federal judge on Monday cut 75 percent of the legal fees Ashbritt Inc. was seeking from losing plaintiff JGT Inc. in a dispute over a subcontract for a federal Hurricane Katrina cleanup project.

Judge Walter J. Gex III of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Mississippi allowed only $58,826.16 of the $231,000 billed by Asbritt’s three firms after he examined every claim for billable hours, copying costs and travel fees.
