UnitedHealth Wins Protest Of Military Care Contract

Law360, New York (April 7, 2011, 3:41 PM EDT) -- UnitedHealth Group Inc. announced Thursday it had successfully protested the award of a $16 billion contract to provide medical care to troops and veterans in the western United States.

UnitedHealth had protested the U.S. Department of Defense's decision to award the TRICARE West Region contract to incumbent contractor Triwest Alliance in 2009. Triwest said at the time that the contract, its third TRICARE award, was worth approximately $16 billion.
