HP, Cisco, Others Sued Over Phone Patent

Law360, New York (April 8, 2011, 12:26 PM EDT) -- AIM IP LLC filed suit Wednesday in California against Cisco Systems Inc., Hewlett-Packard Co. and others, alleging infringement of a patent for coding technology used in phones.

The Mission Viejo, Calif.-based patent-holding company, which brought its complaint in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California, claims that Internet Protocol phones marketed by the defendants — which integrate voice and data networks — infringe U.S. Patent Number 5,920,853.
