Ex-US Embassy Worker Gets 42 Months For Embezzling

Law360, New York (April 8, 2011, 8:11 PM EDT) -- A former employee of the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad was sentenced Friday to 42 months in prison in a Virginia federal Friday for stealing nearly $250,000 earmarked for embassy services, the U.S. Department of Justice announced.

Osama Esam Saleem Ayesh, 36, was also ordered to pay $243,416 in restitution and a $5,000 fine and will serve three years of supervised release following his prison term, according to the DOJ. A federal jury convicted Ayesh in February on two counts of theft of public money and one...
