CFTC Moves For McGraw-Hill's Natural Gas Info

Law360, New York (May 1, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The Commodity Futures Trading Commission on Monday asked a district court to help it force McGraw-Hill Co. Inc. to give up information that may relate to an ongoing case against price-fixing in the natural gas markets.

The CFTC said that the publisher owns natural gas index provider Platts, which in turn owns monthly gas market report “Inside FERC.”

Reports such as Inside FERC calculate and issue gas price indexes based on trade information sent in from market participants. The published price indexes are then used by...
