JPMorgan, First American Settle $4.5M WaMu Title Row

Law360, New York (April 11, 2011, 6:35 PM EDT) -- JPMorgan Chase Bank NA on Monday settled its Michigan federal court suit accusing First American Title Insurance Co. of breaching an agreement related to a sham mortgage that cost now-defunct Washington Mutual Bank $4.5 million.

Judge Marianne O. Battani of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan signed off on the confidential agreement, ending the 3-year-old battle between First American and JPMorgan, which the bank filed after it acquired much of WaMu's assets, including the bogus home loan.
