Law360 (April 18, 2011, 11:20 AM EDT) -- When Hurricane Ike came ashore in September 2008, it left behind hundreds of thousands of insurance claims and ultimately, thousands of lawsuits. The storm was a big one — a Category 2 hurricane and damage was widespread across several states, but Texas was hit particularly hard. In fact, recent estimates peg the insured damage in Texas from Hurricane Ike at about $12 billion, making it the costliest storm in Texas history.
