Allstate Broke Contract, Stole Clients: Ex-Agent

Law360, New York (April 12, 2011, 6:40 PM EDT) -- A veteran Allstate Insurance Co. agent filed suit Tuesday seeking more than $15 million on claims that the insurer terminated his agency contract in order to absorb his business portfolio and turn it over to younger employees.

Paul Mattus alleged in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania that Allstate effectively ran him out of the insurance business and executed a hostile takeover of his agency and clients by denying him a good-faith negotiation of his contract with the company.
