EU Exchange Seeks Documents In CBOT/CME Merger

Law360, New York (May 2, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Though the Chicago Board of Trade and the Chicago Mercantile Exchange have expressed confidence that their pending $8.7 billion merger will receive antitrust clearance, a European exchange is looking to throw a wrench in the works.

Eurex A.G. has asked the U.S. Department of Justice to release numerous documents filed by the Chicago exchanges as part of their regulatory review. Eurex has argued that the documents may reveal anti-competitive practices that in 2003 allegedly kept the European exchange from entering the market for U.S. Treasury futures....
