Mississippi AG Preparing To Sue State Farm

Law360, New York (May 2, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- In a surprising about-face, the Mississippi attorney general has decided to sue State Farm Fire and Casualty Co. for allegedly reneging on its settlement deal involving thousands of Hurricane Katrina policyholder claims.

On Tuesday, Jim Hood indicated that he plans to sue State Farm for breach of contract over the insurer’s purported failure to honor the terms of the January settlement.

"They can't just enter into an agreement and back out of it," said Hood, according to the Associated Press.
