House Votes To Strip $18B Health Care Law Fund

Law360, New York (April 13, 2011, 10:04 PM EDT) -- House Republicans continued attempts to chip away at the federal health care reform law Wednesday by passing a bill that would eliminate an $18 billion public health fund.

The bill aims to defund the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' Prevention and Public Health Fund, which provides states and communities grants for preventative health programs. The fund was a part of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act that President Barack Obama signed into law in 2010.

The bill passed mostly along party lines, 236-183....
