Caltech Settles OT Class Action For $1.7M

Law360, New York (April 14, 2011, 8:17 PM EDT) -- A California state judge on Thursday granted preliminary approval of a $1.7 million settlement in a wage-and-hour class action brought by a former hourly employee of the California Institute of Technology.

In a hearing Thursday, Judge Luis A. Lavin of the Superior Court of the State of California, County of Los Angeles, gave attorneys in the case the green light to notify and seek claims from about 5,800 class members who worked as hourly employees for Pasadena-based Caltech from July 2006 to April 2011.
