Vitro Asks US To Recognize Mexican Bankruptcy

Law360, New York (April 15, 2011, 4:06 PM EDT) -- Mexican glass maker Vitro SAB de CV on Thursday asked a New York bankruptcy court to recognize its reorganization in Mexico and said it would seek a temporary restraining order to block any creditor suits in the U.S.

Vitro Executive Vice President Alejandro Francisco Sanchez-Mujica, acting as the company's foreign representative, asked the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York to grant Vitro's Chapter 15 petition, which would coordinate bankruptcy proceedings in Mexico and the U.S.
