Ga. Lawmakers Push Through Immigration Bill

Law360, New York (April 15, 2011, 6:07 PM EDT) -- Following the path set by Arizona, the Georgia General Assembly approved a bill Thursday that aims to get tougher on illegal immigration through mandatory E-Verify checks for employers and other provisions.

The state Senate amended and passed the measure in a 37-19 vote, and the House of Representatives approved the legislation in a 112-59 vote, sending the bill to Gov. Nathan Deal for his signature.
