UK Court Cuts Antitrust Fines For More Construction Cos.

Law360, New York (April 18, 2011, 5:44 PM EDT) -- A British competition court slashed nearly £9 million ($14.6 million) from £11.6 million in antitrust fines against a third group of construction firms Friday, again citing errors with the way the U.K.'s regulator calculated the penalties.

While the Competition Appeal Tribunal found a variety of errors in its trio of decisions reducing the penalties, it took issue across the board with the U.K. Office of Fair Trading's decision to set the penalties based on the companies' turnovers in the year before it fined the firms, which...
