Starbucks, Ethiopia Settle Trademark Dispute

Law360, New York (May 3, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Starbucks Corp. has reached an agreement with the Ethiopian government over the trademarking of the African nation’s coffee beans, potentially settling a dispute that has been raging for the last year.

On Thursday, Starbucks announced that it would sign a licensing, distribution and marketing agreement that “recognizes the importance and integrity of Ethiopia’s specialty coffee names” with the Ethiopian government this month.
