Fla. Gov. Says State Won't Sue Transocean Over Spill

Law360 (April 19, 2011, 3:55 PM EDT) -- Florida will not file suit against Transocean Ltd. over the Gulf of Mexico oil spill, Gov. Rick Scott reportedly said Tuesday, on the eve of the deadline to bring claims against the Deepwater Horizon rig owner.

Scott said in a briefing in Panama City, Fla., that the state was in a better position to pursue a settlement with BP PLC than to join the multidistrict litigation in Louisiana federal court, where a judge set an April 20 deadline to sue Transocean, the Pensacola News Journal reported....
