SEC Seeks To Force Witness To Testify In Nicor Case

Law360, New York (April 19, 2011, 3:38 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission asked a federal judge in Chicago on Tuesday to compel the testimony of a significant witness in its fraud case against two Nicor Inc. executives, despite her having invoked her constitutional right to avoid self-incrimination.

The agency wants former Nicor supply service manager Beth A. Hohisel, who was terminated in 2004, to testify because she allegedly was integrally involved in executing fraudulent transactions ordered by former executives at the Naperville, Ill.-based natural gas distributor.
