Law360, New York (April 19, 2011, 6:37 PM EDT) -- A Washington federal judge on Tuesday refused to bar Chevron Corp. from challenging Patton Boggs LLP's representation of Ecuadorean environmental claimants suing the oil giant, an ethical issue that arose because Patton's in-house lobbyists once counted Chevron among their clients.
U.S. District Judge Henry H. Kennedy Jr. threw out Patton's lawsuit aimed at getting the court's OK to represent the Ecuadorean plaintiffs against Chevron without fear of disqualification.
“Patton Boggs misunderstands the law,” Judge Kennedy said.
