Disney, Hanna-Barbera Sue Over Character Costumes

Law360 (April 20, 2011, 5:00 PM EDT) -- In a trademark and unfair competition suit filed Wednesday in Florida, Disney Enterprises Inc. and Hanna-Barbera Productions Inc. claim that retailer Costume World Inc. is selling unauthorized costumes based on popular cartoon characters.

The entertainment companies allege that Costume World, which has stores in three states and also sells costumes online, is infringing the trademarks on such characters as Disney's Tigger and Buzz Lightyear, and Hanna-Barbera's Fred Flintstone and Scooby-Doo.
