EU Examines Travelport's Takeover Of Worldspan

Law360, New York (May 4, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The European Commission said Thursday that it would investigate online travel company Travelport Inc.’s proposed $1.4 billion acquisition of rival Worldspan LP, claiming the deal may limit competition within the European travel industry.

The Commission said that combining the two companies’ electronic travel service distribution systems raised competition concerns affecting the travel industry in member states such as Belgium, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands and the U.K.
