Toys R Us Can't Hush-Hush Infant Monitor Privacy Suit

Law360, New York (April 22, 2011, 5:52 PM EDT) -- An Illinois federal judge let consumers proceed Monday with a class action against Toys R Us Inc. and an infant products manufacturer over claims that a baby monitor's signal can be picked up by other receivers, compromising privacy.

U.S. District Judge Ruben Castillo shot down Summer Infant USA Inc. and Toys R Us' attempt to toss the claims over omissions in advertisements that the video monitors' signal is unencrypted, according to an opinion entered Wednesday.
