Judge Calls Oildale's $14.5M Chemtura Claim Weak

Law360, New York (April 22, 2011, 5:55 PM EDT) -- Chemtura Chemical Corp. will likely duck a $14.5 million bill it faces from Oildale Energy LLC for steam and process heat services thanks to a 2002 settlement the claimant struck with Chemtura's predecessor, a New York bankruptcy judge found Tuesday.

After tracing a nearly 20-year contractual relationship involving Chemtura, Oildale and predecessors of each, Judge Robert E.
