Insurer, Gibson Spar Over Venue For $7M Flood Claim

Law360, New York (April 22, 2011, 7:50 PM EDT) -- Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance USA Inc. lashed out at Gibson Guitar Corp. on Thursday in an attempt to prevent its policyholder from pursuing a claim for $7 million in flood losses in Tennessee that is identical to an earlier-filed one in New York.

Mitsui Sumitomo, which sued Gibson in New York federal court in January, is seeking to prevent the guitar maker from opening a suit in Tennessee over losses related to a May flood that destroyed $17 million worth of Gibson's property.
