Righthaven Loses Suit Over News Article Posting

Law360, New York (April 25, 2011, 9:16 PM EDT) -- A Nevada federal judge on Friday chucked an infringement suit brought by copyright-holding company Righthaven LLC, concluding that a nonprofit group’s posting of a newspaper article on its website constituted fair use.

After holding a hearing on an order for Righthaven to show cause, U.S. District Judge James Mahan found that there was no disputed material facts to present a genuine issue for trial and that the Center for Intercultural Organizing was entitled to summary judgment as a matter of law.
