Energy Firms Appeal Contract Ruling To High Court

Law360, New York (May 7, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A group of power companies has appealed to the U.S. Supreme Court a decision forcing energy regulators to reconsider government power contracts penned during California’s energy crisis.

Sempra Energy filed a petition for a writ of certiorari in the Supreme Court on Thursday, court dockets show. In addition, Calpine Corp., together with Allegheny Energy Supply Co. and American Electric Power Service Corp., filed a similar but separate petition on the same day.
