Ill. AG Sues Oil Co. Over Storage Overflow

Law360, New York (April 29, 2011, 2:43 PM EDT) -- Illinois' attorney general sued an independent oil producer Monday over a storage structure overflow that sent thousands of gallons of oil, saltwater and other waste fluids spilling into drainage ditches and farmland in Jasper County.

The suit against Capco Offshore of Texas Inc. in Illinois state court seeks the statutory maximum civil penalty, a finding that the company is liable for damages and removal costs, reimbursement for state response efforts, and an order barring the company from further violations of the Illinois Environmental Protection Act....
