Northrop Background Checks Violate Rights: Suit

Law360, New York (April 28, 2011, 6:21 PM EDT) -- Northrop Grumman Systems Corp. was hit with a class action in Virginia on Thursday for allegedly refusing to hire a woman based on results of a consumer background check without disclosing the details of the report, violating the Fair Credit Reporting Act.

Michelle Bourdelais said Northrop failed to provide her with a copy of the consumer report or a written summary of her rights under the FCRA before or even at the time the company informed her that it had yanked its previous offer of employment....
