DOC To Probe Ferrovanadium Dumping Duty Evasion

Law360, New York (May 6, 2011, 5:52 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Department of Commerce said Friday that it was initiating an anti-circumvention inquiry to determine whether Russian companies have been dodging anti-dumping duties on ferrovanadium by importing vanadium pentoxide that is converted into ferrovanadium in the U.S.

The agency launched the inquiry in response to domestic producer AMG Vanadium Inc.'s allegations that the Evraz Group is importing vanadium pentoxide produced in Russia to the U.S. and then further processing it into ferrovanadium, a strengthener and hardener for steels and other ferrous-based products, to get around...
