NHTSA Widens Probe Into Ford F-150 Fuel Tank

Law360, New York (May 9, 2011, 6:06 PM EDT) -- The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is expanding a probe into a defect in Ford Motor Co.'s F-150 pickup truck, reporting Sunday that roughly 2.7 million vehicles could be impacted by a fuel tank defect that caused two fires.

The NHTSA first began probing the fuel tank issue with the F-150 pickup trucks in September, saying that 1.4 million vehicles made between 1997 and 2001 could be impacted by the problem.
