Shale Lease Suit Against Range Resources Lives On

Law360, New York (May 9, 2011, 7:57 PM EDT) -- A West Virginia federal judge on Thursday approved most claims — but nixed those brought under competition law — in a putative class action that accuses Range Resources Corp. of lying to Marcellus Shale landowners to win gas leases it later abandoned.

“The court concludes that plaintiffs have met their initial pleading burden under Iqbal” with respect to their breach of contract claims, U.S. District Judge Irene M. Keeley said, though she acknowledged that there are “critical issues” that need to be looked at.
