3rd Circ. Upholds $20M Copyright Verdict For Graham

Law360, New York (May 17, 2011, 3:44 PM EDT) -- The Third Circuit affirmed Monday a nearly $20 million verdict in favor of The Graham Co., which accused a former broker and his new employer of infringing its copyrighted plain-English explanations of different insurance policies and coverage.

The appeals court rejected USI MidAtlantic Inc.'s arguments that the damages were "so large as to shock the judicial conscience" and affirmed the lower court's award of more than $4.6 million in prejudgment interest.
