Mexican States Fail To Add Claims To Deepwater MDL

Law360, New York (May 18, 2011, 7:56 PM EDT) -- Three Mexican states bordering the Gulf of Mexico on Wednesday failed to add claims alleging the Deepwater Horizon spill harmed their industries, including tourism and fishing, to a Louisiana multidistrict litigation against BP PLC and others.

Defendants, which also included Halliburton Inc., would be prejudiced if Mexican states Veracruz, Tamaulipas and Quintana Roo amended their complaints because those defendants have already filed motions to dismiss, U.S. Magistrate Judge Sally Shushan ruled.
