Insurers Seek To Avoid Covering Skin Care Co. Fights

Law360, New York (May 19, 2011, 6:13 PM EDT) -- Continental Casualty Co. units slapped a skin care company with a lawsuit Tuesday in California to avoid covering a $5 million settlement tied to an unfair competition action against the company and an arbitration demand by its founder over alleged contract breaches.

Besides the settlement, National Fire Insurance Co. of Hartford, Conn., and American Casualty Co. of Reading, Pa., said they do not owe defense costs to Obagi Medical Products Inc. and subsidiary OMP Inc. over the disputes, which involve the dermatologist that originally started the...
