Benihana Sues Founder's Widow For Sabotaging Sale

Law360, New York (May 19, 2011, 5:09 PM EDT) -- Benihana Inc. filed breach of contract and unfair competition claims in Florida state court Thursday, accusing the restaurant founder’s widow and a former company executive of launching a frivolous trademark suit to sabotage the sale of the struggling steakhouse chain.

Keiko Aoki, the third wife and widow of Benihana’s creator Rocky Aoki, and Takanori Yoshimoto, a former Benihana executive, have sued the company in Delaware to undermine the legitimacy of Benihana’s trademark agreement with a corporate predecessor and scare off would-be purchasers, according to the complaint....
