Texas Court Says Atty Allowed To Fire Partner

Law360, New York (May 20, 2011, 6:50 PM EDT) -- A Texas state appeals court found Thursday that no fiduciary relationship existed that would have prevented an attorney at Houston-based   Haskins & Gregan from firing her partner, overturning a verdict in the other lawyer's breach of contract suit.

The appellate judges reversed the trial court's judgment affirming a jury verdict that found that Jacquelyn C. Gregan had a fiduciary duty to the fired partner, Lannie Todd Kelly, that she failed to meet. The appellate court also rendered a take-nothing verdict in favor of Gregan....
