Aldo, FootLocker Sued Over Tracking Tech Patents

Law360, New York (May 23, 2011, 7:16 PM EDT) -- Footwear retailers Aldo U.S. Inc. and Inc. on Thursday became the latest targets of Eclipse IP LLC's campaign to protect patents covering technology designed to alert customers to the location of a previously shipped product.

Eclipse, a recently formed nonpracticing entity, alleged in Illinois federal court that the two defendants — subsidiaries of Aldo Inc. and Foot Locker Inc. respectively — infringed one or more claims of four patents through the use of email shipment notification and embedded URL linking systems.
