Ark. Fracking Caused Earthquakes, Suit Says

Law360, New York (May 20, 2011, 6:42 PM EDT) -- Several BHP Billiton Ltd. units were hit with a putative class action Friday alleging hydraulic fracturing operations at two injection wells in central Arkansas caused hundreds of earthquakes before they were temporarily shut down by the state.

The complaint, filed in Faulkner County Circuit Court, seeks millions of dollars for property damage, loss of fair market value in real estate, emotional distress and damages related to the purchase of earthquake insurance.
