Lucent Loses Sanctions Bid In Microsoft Patent Suit

Law360, New York (May 23, 2011, 7:31 PM EDT) -- A federal judge in California on Monday rejected Lucent Technologies Inc.'s bid for sanctions against Microsoft Corp. in a long-running patent infringement dispute over on-screen computer tools.

U.S. District Judge Marilyn L. Huff refused to revisit an earlier decision denying Lucent's motion for sanctions against Microsoft over the software giant's conduct during discovery in preparation for a new trial on damages following a 2009 Federal Circuit decision upholding a jury verdict against Microsoft but nixing the $358 million award in the case.
