Travelport Calls American Suit Bullying Tactic

Law360, New York (May 25, 2011, 1:25 PM EDT) -- Ticket distribution services firm Travelport Ltd. asked a Texas federal court Wednesday to toss an antitrust lawsuit brought by American Airlines Inc., claiming the case is a gambit to secure a better bargaining position in contract negotiations.

Preliminary talks between American and Travelport — which acts as an intermediary between air carriers and travel agents — have stalled, and American has essentially “made good” on a threat to sue Travelport if it did not agree to certain contract terms, Travelport claimed in the motion to dismiss....
