US, Mexico Finalize Telecom Equipment Testing Pact

Law360, New York (May 26, 2011, 11:59 AM EDT) -- The U.S. and Mexico finalized an agreement Thursday designed to ease trade in regulated telecommunications products and cut costs for consumers on both sides of the border.

The mutual recognition agreement signed by U.S. Trade Representative Ron Kirk and Mexican Secretary of Economy Bruno Ferrari will allow each country to accept the other's testing to ensure that a product conforms to regulatory requirements — as long as the testing is done by a recognized laboratory.
