MSCI Sues Ex-Workers Over Alleged Source Code Theft

Law360, New York (May 27, 2011, 4:16 PM EDT) -- Investment analysis firm MSCI Inc. alleged in New York on Thursday that three of its former software developers orchestrated a plot to steal source code to develop a competing product for rival Axioma Inc., in breach of their employment agreements.

MSCI claims that ex-employees Philip Jacob, Fabien Couderc and Jason Christou developed the company's RiskServer portfolio analysis software with the secret intention of making it the flagship product of a new firm, then took the trade secrets to Axioma when their venture faltered.
