Tessera Hits Sony With Another Royalty Suit

Law360, New York (May 27, 2011, 4:26 PM EDT) -- Tessera Technologies Inc. said Friday it had sued Sony Corp. in California state court claiming the electronics giant  breached a technology licensing contract by not paying enough royalties for using its patents.

The complaint alleges breach of contract as well as breach of the covenant of good faith and fair dealing, and seeks declaratory relief. The plaintiff is already tussling with Sony in a separate suit filed in October for alleged infringement of a patent for semiconductor packaging, claiming Sony entered into a license agreement with Tessera...
