Passenger Accuses Spirit Air Of Vermin Infestation

Law360, New York (May 31, 2011, 2:05 PM EDT) -- Spirit Airlines Inc. and aircraft maintenance company Alpha-Tech Aviation Services Inc. were sued Friday in Illinois court by a passenger claiming that unsanitary conditions aboard a plane caused her to suffer insect bites that sent her to the hospital.

According to the suit, Gloriana Acolatse was bitten, stung or infected by an insect during her June 2009 flight from Chicago to Fort Lauderdale, Fla. Acolatse went ahead with plans to embark on a cruise after landing in Florida, but grew ill and had to be treated...
