Chinese Nationals Plead Guilty To Illegal Export Charge

Law360, New York (June 1, 2011, 6:33 PM EDT) -- Two Chinese nationals face up to five years in prison after pleading guilty in Virginia federal court on Wednesday to conspiring to illegally export arms to China.

Hong Wei Xian and Li Li tried to buy radiation-hardened microchips from a Virginia company, prosecutors said, in order to sell them to an aerospace firm controlled by the Chinese government. The chips, which can be used in satellite systems, are classified as weapons and therefore fall under a U.S. embargo prohibiting the export of weapons to China....
